 Can we talk our shit for a quick second? Don't want to pop off too hard because humility means a lot in this industry and life in general, but... 

 

#HFLA started two years and 7 months ago to this day. Every day has been a learning experience and every day this big chip sits on our shoulders. Every day we wake up trying to prove more. Many doubters and far more supporters drive us and for that all we can do is keep going hard. 2016 for us is bombs away. Better Better Better! 

 

Our New site layout now features a unique email me when a product restocks feature. One week with that feature and you guys have requested the Classic Bomber and Future Hoodie Beige the most. Of course we will listen to the people and restock but how about some new twist! 

Introducing Our Classic Bomber Jacket take two. Updated Hardware will now be YKK Premium Zippers, Genuine Leather Stripes and an elevated Nylon Material. Once you slide the jacket on, middle eastern silk will be smooth on your skin. Oh yes and not to forget a thicker ribbing material and back arm stitch seams for that current style. To Follow up on, "The Process And The Future Pullover," blog below here we are in the process of selling and producing our first collection of 2016. The fashion game goes like this for us... 1. Idea, 2. Putting that idea on paper, 3. Bringing that idea/product to life, 4. Editing that idea/product and making it better, 5. Photo-shoot, 6. Sales, 7. Production, 8. Marketing, 9.Delivering and finally the most important part selling the fuck out of it and if you missed out, maybe pay closer attention. If you made it through that paragraph of steps to sum it up, we are now producing our first collection of 2016. It is set to deliver early february and yes here are some peeks. We plan on being here for a while, so lets start archiving things. Homme + Femme 2016 (Current Year), Year 03 (Our Years In Business), Delivery One (First Of 4 Deliveries). We started HFLA with no idea of our future besides our daily task of making dope designs at Starbucks and scraping our money together to produce them. With no resources and no finances it was hard to say the least. One thing that we always held our hat on was our ability to be resourceful and find the materials and the people. 

The future pullover represents both our persistence and our defiance. Our persistence to make futuristic products and our defiance in not listening to or abiding by the alleged rules. Our first future pullover featured a washed indigo denim with modal cotton blend with a velcro patch that was supposed to house a detachable Logo. With our USA embroidery source totally letting us down we got two days before the drop and decided to just go without it. It worked well and the customers loved it! The second generation future pullover had to be a learning experience and we had to get you a better price. In fashion there are many steps and levels which we learn and grow from daily. Production of a product can be a hassle and the stories of how a product gets to you vary. We decided to monochrome and went with white denim and black cotton. Quality is everything so we kept the high end made in LA zippers. Branding is key and we learned from Spring 15 so we decided to slap the HFLA logo right on the denim. Besides the hype what if I told you we actually planned our collections months in advance? Would you believe that in our second year and 6th month with no idea we would be here right now that we are actually on a schedule? Ha ha of course we are because we are striving to take it to the next level. Thats one key thing you should know about HFLA. No fancy educations, no mentors, no big business plan with allocated budgets, at first. With everything now being strategic it takes careful planning and close attention to detail to plan multiple item collections. So we totally didn't book our modal for the bottom of the pullover early enough and ended up weeks before the drop with no modal because our source was sold out and with custom fabrics it takes six weeks to mill the fabrics. Backs against the wall again we pre sold 312 pullovers to stores globally and needed at least 100 for our own site. 1.3 yard of denim per sweater, 0.8 yards of modal needed per sweater two custom corn tooth zippers with high end pulls, 1 yard of draw string cord, elastic for the cuffs and send out to printers for the HFLA print, we still needed modal. One of the finest cottons in LA was missing and if we couldn't find it your future pullover would not be made. Minus the loss in profit and the lack of future. Minus the fact that we teased via @HommeFemmeLA months in advance. Minus the fact that it was august 28th and our fall drop was 20 days away, we ended up inside skid row, Downtown LA at a hebrew closeout fabric market where we found modal, yes!! It was better than the one we had before, more stretch, more breathable but only 95 yards, "Sad Face." Before we hang our heads in defeat we crack one more question and it should always be there question you ask before you give up on anything..... Is there another option? Of course there always is and this veteran textiles boss says of course I have a Bamboo organic cotton but its not in your price range you specified. It was about 3 dollars more per yard. I have 700 yards but if you take it all I will match your price.... Think think, check the account, ok lets do it! 

Now you have your future pullover with an organic Bamboo Cotton, its a few steps better quality than before and we did lower that price. We might not have met our profit expectation but hey, we made a better quality product and we delivered. We took another step in our growth and you showed your true support and bought yours and even referred a few friends. Thanks for the emails and the DM's. We have some extra Bamboo on our hands and we're gonna restock! 

Hope we didn't bore you with the process of delivering Homme + Femme. And if you ever decide to do this for yourself, never give up when it gets tough.

A FEW THURSDAYS AGO THE #HFLA DOWNTOWN LA POP UP STORE WELCOMED IN ROUDY FASHIONABLE CROWD TO MARK OUR 2ND MONTH AND OUR GOOD FRIEND ALIKY'S EP RELEASE. LIKE OUR BRANDS CURRENT STATE, WE REALLY DIDNT LOOK FOR TOO MUCH ATTENTION. A FEW FRIENDS OF A FEW FRIENDS GOT TOGETHER AND WELCOMED SOME OF OUR SUPPORTERS LOCALLY TO A PRIVATE LISTENING PARTY FOR BAY AREA PRINCESS NOW LA SOCIALITE ALIKY. THE WELL CONNECTED BEGINNER TO THE RAP GAME BROUGHT OUT A GREAT MIX OF PEOPLE AS WE CELEBRATED HER ANTICIPATED T.H.OT.S. EP ALONG WITH THE SHOPS TWO MONTH ANNIVERSARY. WE PACKED THE 500SQ FT BOUTIQUE WITH AS MANY AS WE COULD. THROW IN AN OPEN BAR, SOME BAD WOMEN AND TURNT UP MUSIC TO GET AN IN AND OUT CROWD  OF PEOPLE INSIDE, BLOCKING THE SIDEWALK AND IN THE STREET.  IT WAS THREE HOURS OF TWERKIN, NETWORKING AND VIBING. #HFLA Hits NYC

City to city, coast to coast, Homme Femme LA takes New York City as we continue to carry our brand to newer heights. We couldn't think of a better way to spread the HFLA love in this perfect summer weather than to visit America's largest fashion capital, the Big Apple. The HFLA Collective set out to expand our summer collection to the "high streets" of New York and to return the love to our supporters on the East Coast. Carousing from Mercer St. in SoHo to Hell's Kitchen, the HommeFemmeLA rolled in style through New York City with our SS14' collection. 

The HFLA team moved west as we hit Hell’s Kitchen to attend the #40ozBounce Warehouse Party, hosted by 40oz NYC, known exclusively for their High Fashion styled hats. The 40 Oz Bounce events are one of New York City’s most loved street events, known specifically for asking their invitees to bring a 40 Oz beer before even being considered to enter the party, and of course, the HFLA collective was in attendance to the RSVP exclusive event.

Appearances were made by some of Hip Hop’s freshest talents including DJ Spinking, the A$AP MOB including A$AP Bari, A$AP Nast, and A$AP Illz. Other appearances were made by Ian Connor, Mark Ecko, SlamXHype editors, and the owner and designer of 40oz, 40oz Van himself.  

We even spent a moment with Hip-Hop DX writers, to discuss the direction of HFLA as we shared our plans to integrate HFLA throughout the East Coast in the near future. This event played a great opportunity for the HFLA collective to socialize, network, and gift some of our most loved merchandise to some of the most influential young music and fashion names on the East Coast.

From subways to Bentley’s, we continued our journey by riding down the grand cobble stone roads with the High Street NYC  owner and designer, Jonathan Andrews to the corners of Spring and Greene street in Soho, NY. SoHo, NY, is Manhattan's neighborhood to some of the fashion's most iconic powerhouses and also where we were able to catch up with the Kardashian's SoHo, NY, DASH  store visual aesthetician, Donnovan Floyd

In between our stops at Alexander Wang  and Helmut Lang, we strolled down Mercer and Greene St. to check out V-Files and Opening Ceremony. As we checked out some of Opening Ceremony’s latest collaborations with Rene Magritta and deceased surreal artist Thierry Boutemy, we made sure to show off some of our collections to their workers and buyers, some of our biggest fans and critics.

Continue to look out for future collaborations with some of your favorite fashion brands originating from the East Coast. We plan to bring our clientele the highest quality & unique designs as we innovate with the hottest urban brands you love.
